Joanne Sorrentino grew up in Sydney and obtained her psychology degree at Macquarie University, graduating in 2009. She completed her Internship through the Australian College of Applied Psychology. Joanne has over 10 years’ experience providing a wide range of treatment to children, adolescents and adults.
She provides psychoeducation and interventions relevant to the management of developmental and educational issues across the lifespan. She has a particular interest in utilizing the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Model and implementing Solution Focused Therapy. She also has experience working with patients who have sustained a psychological injury to assist them in rejoining the workforce.
Through her work, Joanne emphasizes the importance of working with patients to overcome any presenting problem. Her work follows resilience building and involves the teaching of specific strategies and the modification of negative attitudes, beliefs and behaviours to enhance a patient’s quality of life
Joanne believes in a Biopsychosocial model and prides herself on her ability to assess each individual’s needs and work alongside a multidisciplinary team to devise and implement tailored and holistic treatment management plans
